Quick....

Just a quick little note, to let you know that Jonah's surgery went just fine yesterday! He really wanted Dad to be with him, so Jeremy took the day off of school, to be there with him! He went in at about 8:30am, and was out of surgery no later than 10am. He had a really hard time waking up though, so they didn't leave the hospital until 1pm. He just slept and slept, and of course, that is the best thing for him. I took the 2 other boys out of school @ noon, so we could go to Fergus and pick them up. Jeremy had a game last night, so we hung out at Grandma and Grandpa's for a few hours ( just so Jonah could lay low, before driving to Ashby), and Grandma made us all a great supper! He actually ate really well yesterday ( 4 little cups of pudding, and some pasta), and wasn't in that much pain. This morning, he woke up, hurting quite a bit! But I had a really hard time getting him up to take his meds, in the middle of the night, so he was behind. If we keep on top of those, today, he should be okay! He can't eat anything real solid, for 2 weeks, until the scars in his throat heal....so we will see how that goes?!? He can have things like mac-n-cheese, and pasta, and potatoes. He has been a tough little boy, and has no problem staying home, and hanging out with Sophie! We will see how restless he gets by Friday! Thank you all for thinking and praying for him, we are excited to see if this works for him!

An Early Birthday Present!

Happy early Birthday Jonah!!
Jonah got his wish, on Saturday.....he got his birthday present early, from us and my mom and dad! We went to check costs out on Sat. in Alexandria, and of course, he loved this cute little one. We were going to wait until his b-day to do this, but he has surgery tomorrow morning, and has been really worried about it, so we broke down and got her early! He is getting his adenoids and tonsils out tomorrow at 8am, a same day surgery. He has been snoring at night, so loud, nobody has been able to sleep in the same room as him! I looked to see if that was normal, and of course, they said no. So we got him a Dr. appointment, and they said that he had sleep apnea, and his tonsils and adenoids were huge. They were actually ready to do the surgery the next day, but I said that I needed a little bit of time. This should clear up his breathing problems, which will be so great, cause it was starting to affect his school day! So he will be happy to come home to his little friend!

Jonah has been wanting a pet, forever!!! He just loves the idea of a pet, and really wanted a dog, but we decided that it was best, not to go that route. The idea of a dog, for three boys, was really tempting, but it would be just too much work for our family. So we decided to go with "Sophie" the guinea pig. She is only 6 months old, and is really great with the boys. She just lets them hold her, whenever. She has been a little scared of all of the activity around her, but I'm sure she will get use to it. Jonah has been holding her as much as possible, and she seems to really like him. She will even make a little purring sound, usually after Jonah gets her little house all set, and she gets all settled. He thinks she is saying "thank-you", so he tells her "you're welcome"!! It's pretty cute!

Miss Sophie.... we actually have another girl in the family!! I am still pretty out numbered though! The pet store said the the girls were more mellow, and she is that. She has never nibbled on fingers, or been a problem at all. The boys think it's fun to help out with the cleaning now....hopefully that will last!

She is so pretty, and loves to hang out in her little wood box!

Rochester update

Our trip to Rochester was a quick one, but jam packed. Jeremy had a basketball game on Friday, so Jonah just stayed back with him. My mom came with us to help, which was great for Hayden, especially! We left at 10am on Thursday, so we could just take our time on the way down there. The trip down went fast, we went straight to Grandma Knick's to say "hi", and see all her Christmas stuff. Then we spent the next hour with Grandpa Knick, eating cake and visiting, for his birthday. It was great to be able to spend some time with him.
We got to our hotel, and relaxed the rest of the evening, going to bed early. We had to be up, and at Mayo @ 7am
. Jaxon had injections first, in the morning. Dr. Mason decided to do it in both of hips, and his right ankle. We were happy that his hips got done, cause they have been really bad lately! He woke up great, and got a Vikings surgery cap this time, so he was thrilled! Next we saw Dr. Mason, and found out that he had grown an inch since we saw him last!! Yippee, a whole inch!! We were pretty excited, Dr. Mason included! We are going to just keep doing the same stuff right now, because we seem to be at a good enough place, right now. He has been as stable as Jaxon can get, which is a good thing! We might try a new medication in the next year or so, but that's still being tested, and he wants to do a little more research. He wants us to come back in 4 months, and do the same things, but an x-ray of his hips, and ultra sound of his hips, so they can do cortisone shots into the (for sure) right spot.
Next we had rehab, which was fine, but she didn't like his extension in his elbows, so she wanted us to see about splinting them at night. Which was our next appointment, the OT, who actually made the splints. One for each arm, that he wears at night, and so far hasn't minded them. She also gave us some other exercises, to help with that too, that we can do at home.
Our last one of the day was the endocrinologist. He was a really nice guy, and very interested in Jaxon's case. He was concerned with his growth obviously, not just because of his height, but his weight too. He is below the 3rd % on both weight and height. He thinks the weight is the issue, because them together being low, means that it might not just be about his disease, and meds., but maybe something else. They did a x-ray of his hand, to see how old his bones are, and we will be doing some more tests here, to see if there is anything else going on. He wonders if his body is getting the right nutrients, so we are probably going to see a dietitian. With all of Jaxon's problems with his stomach, he's wondering if he is absorbing things properly. He had a ton of info and was very helpful, but my brain was mush, after we were done. We will find out more on the testing, when we get them done next week.
We didn't get out of Mayo, and on our way until about 4:30pm, which put us into Ashby at 10pm. Needless to say, we were all really tired, but we made it!

Turning 4

Of course, I'm late again on pictures, but it's been a hectic couple of weeks!
Hayden turned 4 on the 10th, and had a great weekend! We decided to keep things low key, since we had all just been together for Christmas. He got to have 2 parties in one day, one with the Knick's in the afternoon, and then with G&G Rogness.
First, we had Grandma J, Grandpa Kever's, Nathan and Amber, to our house for taco's in a bag. We ate, opened presents, and had cupcakes. Then we went to Jeremy's basketball game, which was fun, because we hadn't been to one yet. The boys love seeing what dad does, and had a blast watching the guys play!
After the game, we packed up and went to Grandma and Grandpa's for the night. We had a great supper and birthday cake. Hayden got to open more presents, and we all watched football playoffs!
I just can't believe he is 4, my baby is all grown up, and it's makes me sad! But we are so proud of the little man he is growing up to be! Happy Birthday Hayden, we love you lots!

Opening presents!

Playing with his new toys!

Jonah had to get into the pictures too
Happy Birthday Hayden!

Jaxon and Jonah even got something special too!

A Knick Christmas

We started the morning off, with presents. It was the first Christmas we had Amber with us,(not to mention the first for Nathan and Amber, as a married couple!) so it was fun to have her celebrate with us!

They got lots of other great stuff too, from Grandma and Grandpa, Nathan and Amber, and Brittney!
We draw names, for the adults, and this year Jeremy drew his dad. So this is Kevin, reading his card (really a book), from Jeremy.
Kevin made us an incredible turkey, for dinner, along with lots of other yummy food. This turkey was done to perfection, and it tasted even better! I don't know if I've had a moister turkey, ever! Grandma Ruby even made our favorite dessert, RMH!

Aunt Bert had the a great idea, for the boys, in the afternoon....Gingerbread houses! Brittney and Nathan helped the boys make their own houses, and the boys had a blast!
